IT’S HERE!
The Integrated Listening System (ILS) improves connections that support brain-body skills for children and adults throughout the lifespan. The Focus system can improve symptoms of a variety of challenges such as; balance and proprioception, auditory and visual processing, gross and fine motor coordination, memory, attention, concentration, emotional regulation, and reading. Specific programs include the Calming Program, Sensory & Motor Program, Concentration & Attention Program, and Reading & Auditory Processing Program. This program would be suitable for anyone wanting to make improvements in these areas but many of these challenges are common for those with autism, ADHD, and processing differences.
How Does it Work?
The ILS system provides specially filtered music through bone-conducting headphones coupled with intentional movement activities providing auditory and sensory input to the body at the same time. By activating multiple sensory systems repeatedly ILS can strengthen your neural connections and networks, gradually retraining your brain and body to respond to input more effectively. This is harnessing neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to grow, change, and essentially rewire itself. Over time, this can lead to increases in overall functioning. As the program progresses cognitive activities challenge your brain in a way that mimics what is required from us in our day to day. This can be fun and is great for all ages.
The Focus system can be offered in the office and can also be provided at home with some support and training. This can be decided with your counsellor at intake.
